Top 10 baseball moments involving fans from 2010 – #10-6
Posted by: | Comments
Our names may never be in a box score, nor will we be featured on the cover of Sports Illustrated, but it doesn’t mean that we can’t be apart of baseball. The past twelve months have allowed many of the millions of baseball fans to take part in the game whether they like it or not. Luckily for us, television cameras and phones with video are everywhere to capture the moment. Here are PRO Rumors’ Top 10 moments involving fans as caught on video:
#10 – Orlando Cabrera – the $2.02 million bat boy
At the time of this video, Orlando Cabrera was not an active player (DL for an oblique straing), so technically he’s a common person like. In August he donned a “BB” jersey and was the team’s bat boy for the day.

#9 – Fan running on field stopped by Braves Matt Diaz
Diaz took move out of the Karate Kid movie by sweeping the leg of this unfortunate fan.

#8 – Drunk Daytona Cubs fan Tasered
Check this video of drunk fan being tasered at a Single-A Daytona Cubs game from July. It happens about the 0:28 mark: http://www.prorumors.com/2010/07/rumors/video-drunk-daytona-fort-myers-cubs-fan-tasered/
#7 – Teacher at San Francisco Giants game throws horrible first pitch on FOX
I probably would do no better in the same situation. It’s a lot of pressure. Here’s the video: http://blog.prorumors.com/2010/05/rumors/video-teacher-at-san-francisco-giants-game-throws-horrible-first-pitch-on-fox/
#6 – Oakland A’s ballboy woos girl with his balls
This is the type of stuff that sets the scene in romantic comedy movies. I’m not sure of the two are still dating, but hopefully he’s still using the gimmick to line up dates. Guys take notes from this video: http://www.prorumors.com/2010/08/rumors/foul-ball-friday-oakland-as-ballboy-woos-girl-with-his-balls/

This last set includes five events during the baseball season that likely would have been number 1’s in any other year. 2010 was the year of the pitcher.
#5 – Dallas Braden – Alex Rodriguez Feud
Don’t cross my mound! Check out the video here that put Dallas Branden on the baseball map: http://blog.prorumors.com/2010/04/rumors/dallas-braden-welcome-to-a-rods-privileged-world/
#4 – Roy Halladay’s no-hitter in the National League Division Series
Not since Don Larson’s perfect game has anybody thrown a no-hitter in post season play. Halladay threw his second no-hitter of the season against the Cincinnati Reds to start off the Philadelphia Phillies’ post season.
Check out the video of the no-no here: http://www.prorumors.com/2010/10/rumors/video-roy-halladay-throws-no-hitter-versus-reds/
#3 – Roy Halladay’s Perfect Game
Only in 2010 can a perfect game be ranked as #3.

#2 – Dallas Braden’s Perfect Game
Branden may have found his way onto the baseball map with his fight with Alex Rodriguez, but his perfect game cemented his place in history.

#1 – Armando Galarraga’s Almost Perfect Game
Would I rather have the perfect game or get the world’s attention in the almost perfect game. I think I would rather have the perfect game in a season filled with two others.
I have to hand it to Galarraga, for keeping his poise. I would have gone ballistic. And I can only imagine what umpire Jim Joyce went through.
He’s the video of what may be one of the most famous plays in the history of baseball: http://blog.prorumors.com/2010/06/rumors/video-armando-galarrag-throws-21st-perfect-game-in-major-league-baseball-history/

Warning! Not for those with a sensitive stomach. It could be not safe for work depending on who’s behind you.

VIDEO: Felix Pie goes crazy at Winter League game
Posted by: | CommentsThe video speaks for itself. Check out Baltimore Orioles’ outfielder Felix Pie going crazy at a Dominican Winter League game from November 10, 2010.
Pie may always be remembered for his testicular torsion (aka twisted testical) of 2008, but this incident may give fans a different perspective of the outfield.

VIDEO: The great Leslie Nielsen of Naked Gun fame passes at 84
Posted by: | CommentsI know this is a little stretch for baseball rumors and news, but comedian Leslie Nielsen from such films as The Naked Gun and Airplane! has passed away at the age of 84. Neilsen provided an awesome performance as an under cover cop dressed up as an MLB umpire in the first Naked Gun movie. Check out the clip of Neilsen, the California Angels and Seattle Mariners filmed at Dodgers Stadium. Twenty-plus years later and it still makes me laugh!

VIDEO: Giants fans get struck by car during celebration (maybe NSFW)
Posted by: | CommentsIn a pure act of selfishness and stupidity, one individual driving his wired wheeled car decided to plow into a group of San Francisco Giants fans during last night’s celebration.
The video is not too graphic since the angle is bad, but we warned you. You can see additional video courtesy of KTVU.
The Associated Press says at least five people were arrested during last nights celebrations.
VIDEO: Madison Bumgarner Rewind – ejection from Minor League game
Posted by: | CommentsMost of you may be watching the San Francisco Giant’s starting pitcher Madison Bumgarner take a lead into the 5th inning in Game 4 of the World Series. It’s safe say he’s been pretty dominant against the Texas Rangers hitters so far. He wasn’t always calm under pressure. Let’s rewind back to June of this year when he lost his cool in a Minor League game. Bumgarner (#40) was ejected and then out of frustration he threw a ball into center field. Check out the video:
Henry Schulman of the San Francisco Chronicle reported in June that Bumgarner “came unglued” after center fielder Eugenio Valez dropped a pop fly that should have been caught. He later had a problem with the umpires. Here’s the report from an eyewitness:
“Then he got into a beef with the first base umpire over a close play while covering first. Then got into a beef with the second base umpire over a pickoff play at second (in the seventh inning). The second base umpire tossed him after he lost his cool. He had to be physically restrained from the umpire by his teammates.”
You’ll notice on the upper-edge of the screen, about the 0:50 mark, a ball is thrown towards center field.
