Phillies release OF John Bowker

The Philadelphia Phillies have released outfielder John Bowker to allow him to play with a professional team in Japan, the club announced via a press release today.
Bowker played in 31 Major League games in 2011 with the Phillies and the Pittsburgh Pirates and hit .133 with two RBIs.

Yankees release outfielder Greg Golson

The New York Yankees have released outfielder Greg Golson according to Marc Carig of the Star-Ledger.
Golson hit .182/.250/.182 in 11 AB’s for the Yankees in 2011.

San Francisco Giants place Miguel Tejada, Aaron Rowand on release waivers

According to Henry Schulman of the San Francisco Chronicle, the San Francisco Giants have placed short stop, Miguel Tejada, and outfielder, Aaron Rowand, on unconditional release waivers.
Schulman adds that this movement means the Giants couldn’t trade either one of them. Tejada is hitting .239/.270/.326 with 4 HR’s and 26 RBI’s in 322 AB’s for the Giants this season. Rowand is hitting .233/.274/.347 with 4 HR’s and 21 RBI’s in 331 AB’s in 2011 for the Giants.

Florida Marlins release Alfredo Amezaga

The Florida Marlins have released Alfredo Amezaga, according to a Tweet by Joe Frisaro of MLB.com.
The move was done after the team designated Amezaga on September 5 for assignment. The Marlins acquired Amezaga in early August from the Rockies in exchange for minor league infielder Jesus Merchan.

Nationals release Carr and DFA Mock

According to the Washington Nationals’ transaction page (via Bill Ladson of MLB.com), the team has released right-handed pitcher Adam Carr and designated right-handed pitcher Garrett Mock for assignment.
