Rumors for Outrighted to Minors

Right handed pitcher Justin Germano has cleared waivers and has been outrighted to Triple-A according to Paul Hoynes of the Plain Dealer.

Germano, who was designated for assignment last week, was 0-1 with a 5.68 ERA in 12.2 innings throughout nine games with the Indians in 2011.

The Boston Red Sox have outrighted Hideki Okajima to Triple-A Pawtucket after he cleared waivers today, Peter Abraham of the Boston Globe reports.

The Sox designated Okijima on May 19 to make room for the recently acquired left-handed reliever Franklin Morales from the Colorado Rockies.

Okajima is 1-0 with a 4.32 ERA in seven games with the Red Sox this year. It was a smart move by Okajima to accept the assignment to the Minor Leagues since he has a guaranteed $1.75 million contract through 2011 with the Red Sox.

Yesterday, we learned that third baseman David Wright suffered a back injury which landed him on the DL. The New York Mets have made numerous roster moves this morning in order to accommodate a new infielder.

According to Anthony DiComo of MLB.com, the team has outrighted Chin-Lung Hu and optioned reliever Ryota Igarashi to Triple-A Buffalo earlier today.

The Mets also reactivated Pdero Beato from the disabled list and recalled infielder Ruben Tejada from Buffalo to replace the injured Wright.

The Chicago Cubs have outrighted Thomas Diamond from the team’s 40-man roster, Carrie Muskat of MLB.com reports.  The move was done in order to add Doug Davis to the roster.

The 28-year-old right-handed pitcher last played with the Cubs in 2010 when he went 1-3 with a 6.83 ERA in 16 appearances (3 starts).

Davis takes the mound for the first time today since being sidelined last July with elbow tendon surgery.

Right handed pitcher Ramon Aguero has cleared waivers and has been outrighted to Double-A Frisco according to Jeff Wilson of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram.

Aguero was designated for assignment yesterday. The Rangers claimed Aguero off waivers from the Pirates in early April after being designated by Pittsburgh during Spring Training. He was 2-5 with a 6.14 ERA in 29.1 innings throughout 25 games with the Pirates Double-A and high-A teams.

Left handed pitcher Garrett Olsen has cleared waivers and was outrighted to Triple-A Indianapolis reports Colin Dunlap of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.

Olsen was designated for assignment by the Pirates last week. The Pirates claimed the left hander off waivers from the Seattle Mariners in mid-March.

In four games with the Pirates this season, the 27-year-old Olson was 1-1 with a 2.08 ERA over four games and 4 1/3 innings pitched.

Brewers outfielder Jeremy Reed, who was designated for assignment a couple of days ago, and has cleared waivers reports Tom Haudricourt of the Journal Sentinel. Reed was outrighted to Triple-A Nashville.

Reed, 29, played in seven games with the Brewers this season but did not get on base nor did he get a hit.  He’s a lifetime .252/.309/.354 hitter in eight Major League Seasons.

Outfielder Brandon Boggs has cleared waivers and has been sent to Triple-A according to Tom Haudricourt of the Journal Sentinel.

Boggs is a lifetime .212/.318/.375 hitter with 8 HR’s and 41 RBI’s in 307 AB’s throughout three seasons with the Rangers. In 2010, the 27 year old was 0-for-7 in 4 games for the Rangers before being designated for assignment.

The Cincinnati Reds reassigned veteran left-handed pitcher Dontrelle Willis and outfielder Jeremy Hermida to their Minor League camp, the Associated Press reports.

Willis had been trying to win a spot in team’s rotation.  He had a 0-0 record with a 9.31 ERA with 11 walks in 9 2/3 innings this Spring.

Willis signed a Minor League deal with Cincinnati in November.  The 28-year-old was a combined 2-3 with a 5.63 ERA in 15 appearances (13 starts) for the Detroit Tiers and Arizona Diamondbacks last season.

Hermida hit .342 with three home runs and six RBIs this Spring.

Right handed pitcher Jensen Lewis has cleared waivers and he has been sent outright to Triple-A Columbus according to Jordan Bastian of MLB.com.

The team previously committed $650,000 for the pitcher. The right-hander had a 14.29 ERA this spring which could have prompted the team to give up on him.

In 2010, Lewis was 4-2 with a 2.97 ERA and 29 strikeouts in 36 1/3 innings throughout 37 games.
