Indians Send Huff to AAA to Make Room For Jimenez

According to Danny Knobler of CBS Sports, the Cleveland Indians have sent pitcher David Huff to AAA. This move will make room on the 25 man roster for newly acquired Ubaldo Jimenez. Jimenez was acquired in a 5 player deal on July 30.
Jimenez, 27, is 6-9 with a 4.46 ERA in 21 starts this season. Huff, 26, is 1-1 with a 0.71 ERA in 2 appearances this season.

Royals Option Teaford To AAA, Recall Duffy

The Kansas City Royals have optioned LHP Everett Teaford to AAA, according to Royals beat writer Bob Dutton. This move made room for the Royals to recall LHP Danny Duffy from AAA.
Teaford was drafted by the Royals in the 12th round of the 2006 MLB June Amateur Draft. He made his Major League debut this season on May 17.
Duffy was drafted by the Royals in the 3rd round of the 2007 amateur draft. He also made his debut this season just a day after Teaford’s on May 18.
Teaford, 27, was 0-0 with a 2.30 ERA in 16 appearances so far this season. Duffy, 22, is 1-4 with a 4.85 ERA in 10 starts this season.

Yankees call up Dickerson, send down Golson

According to the Associated Press, the New York Yankees have called up Chris Dickerson. To make this move they sent down outfielder Greg Golson. Golson was called up last Thursday when Alex Rodriguez went on the DL.
Golson, 25, had 0 at bats during his stint with the Major League Club. For AAA he is hitting .295/.350/.432 with 5 home runs in 61 games. Dickerson, is with the Major League Club for the third time this season. Through his first two stints he is hitting .300/.364/.400 in 31 games.

Worley Optioned After Game Today

Phillies pitcher Vance Worley threw seven shutout innings today in the Phillies 1-0 win over the Marlins. According to Phillies Beat Writer Todd Zolecki, Worley was then optioned to AAA. The move was not due to poor performance but rather to keep him on his routine. With the All Star break coming up they wanted to try to keep him on his regular routine that way his pitching would not be affected by an extended break.
Worley, 23, is 4-1 with a 2.20 ERA in 9 appearances with the Phillies this year. Expect him back shortly after the All Star break.

Dodgers Option Dee Gordon; Eugenio Velez Promoted to Major League Club

According to Ken Gurnick of MLB.com, the Los Angeles Dodgers have optioned Dee Gordon to AAA. They promoted Eugenio Velez in Gordon’s place. Gordon got called up on June 6th in place of Rafael Furcal. With Furcal back, Gordon is being sent down to AAA. Velez previously played for the Blue Jays and the Giants before signing a Minor League Contract with the Dodgers this off season.
Velez, 29, is hitting .339/.371/.463 this season for AAA Albuquerque. Gordon, 23, was hitting .232/.250/.280 with the Dodgers this season before getting sent down today.

Rangers Option Taylor Teagarden to AAA Makes Room for Activating Napoli from DL

The Texas Rangers have optioned Taylor Teagarden to AAA Round Rock, reports Jeff Wilson of the Fort Worth Star Telegram. With Mike Napoli coming off the DL today this move was made to make an open roster spot for Napoli. The Rangers have been 7-10 since losing Napoli to the DL on June 12.
Napoli, 29, is hitting .221/.344/.493 with 10 home runs on the season and brings some pop to the middle of the Rangers lineup. Teagarden, 27, is hitting .269/.321/.346 on the season.

Rockies Option Clayton Mortensen to AAA and Call up Cole Garner

The Colorado Rockies have decided to option Clayton Mortensen to AAA, reports Tracy Ringolsby of Fox Sports. This move will make room for the Rockies to call up OF Cole Garner. With Carlos Gonzalez listed as day to day with a wrist contusion, the Rockies needed more depth in the outfield. Garner has shown great signs of maturity at the plate at AAA hitting .340/.376/.567 with 7 home runs in 36 games with AAA Colorado Springs.
Mortensen, 26, is 2-4 with a 3.86 ERA in 16 appearances this season for the Rockies. Garner, 26, will be making his Major League debut.

According to Anthony DiComo of MLB.com, the New York Mets have optioned Fernando Martinez to AAA Buffalo to make room for Willie Harris who is being activated from the bereavement list. Harris was put on the bereavement list Wednesday when he learned that his wife, who was just 5 months pregnant, had gone into labor. Unfortunately the couple lost the baby the next morning.
Martinez is hitting .227/.261/.455 in 11 games this season. Harris is hitting .242/.336/.308 on the season.

Cubs’ Chris Carpenter Optioned to AAA Iowa to Make Room for Casey Coleman

According to Chicago Cubs Beat Writer Carrie Muskat, pitcher Chris Carpenter has been optioned to AAA Iowa. This move will make room for Casey Coleman was optioned to AAA Iowa on June 14 to make room for Carpenter. Now they have switched roles with Carpenter being optioned to AAA Iowa to make room for Coleman who is returning to the major league club to start tomorrow’s series opener against the Nationals.
Coleman, 23, is 2-4 with a 7.78 ERA in 10 appearances in the Majors this year. He pitched to a 2-1 record with a 3.90 ERA for the AAA club since getting sent down. Carpenter, 25, is 0-0 with a 4.05 ERA in 8 relief appearances this season for the Cubs.

Ivan Nova Optioned, Pendleton Recalled from AAA

According to a tweet by New York Yankees Beat Writer Bryan Hoch, Ivan Nova has been optioned to AAA. Lance Pendleton has been called up to take Nova’s roster spot. Earlier in the week it was reported that the Yankees were contemplating incorporating a six man rotation, but it appears that with Nova being sent down they have decided to stick with the traditional 5 man rotation.
Nova, 24, is 8-4 with a 4.12 ERA in 17 appearances so far this year. Pendleton, 27, is 2-2 with a 2.55 ERA in 8 appearances for AAA Scranton this year.
