If Branyan makes the team, he would earn a base salary of $750k plus incentives.

The signing of Branyan, will not stop the Yankees from looking at other options at the DH spot such as Johnny Damon, Hideki Matsui or Raul Ibanez.

After being signed by the Angels last May, he hit .185 with 12 hits in 65 at-bat while splitting time at 1st and DH.

Last season for the Nats, Ankiel posted a .239 avg while accumulating 91 hits in 380 at-bats.

Ankiel earned a base salary of $1.5mm last season and also earned an additional $450k in incentives for reaching 100, 150, 200, 250, 300 and 375 plate appearances.

Guillen will earn a base salary of $1mm and has incentives tied to plate appearances included in the deal.

Last season with the Tigers, Guillen was limited to only 95 at-bats and hit .232.

Hernandez went 8-13 with a 4.47 era for the Nationals in 2011. In 2001 with the Giants, Hernandez hit .296 in 81 at-bats, totalling 24 hits (4 doubles, 1 home run).

The 29 year old last pitched in the Majors in 2010 with the Rockies and Red Sox. That year he went 3-4 with a 4.99 ERA in 52.1 innings. He also posted a 1.4 HR/9, 5.5 BB/9 and 6.5 SO/9 that season.

Last season, Galarraga went 3-4 with Arizona while posting a 5.91 era.

Prior to last season Galarraga agreed to a one-year $2.3mm deal with Detroit and then released the next day. At that time, the Orioles were interested in the right hander.

The 29-year-old shot to worldwide fame for his sportsmanship that he displayed after an umpire’s error cost him a perfect game in 2010.

Galarraga will continue to be under team control through the 2013 season.

Pierre will earn $800k if he makes the team, and can earn an additional $300k in incentives ($50k each time he reaches 200,250, 300, 350, 400 and 450 plate appearances.

Pierre who is known for his speed on the base paths played for the White Sox last season and hit .279. He also had a career low (full season numbers) 27 stolen bases but almost matched his career in rbi’s (55) with 51.

Pierre made $8.5mm in the last year of a five-year deal he signed with the Dodgers back in November of 2006. He was eventually traded to the White Sox prior to the 2010 season.

Pierre will be competing for a backup outfield spot in Spring Training.

Just like Dan Wheeler’s deal with the Indians, the White Sox will not receive compensation for Pierre signing with the Phillies even though he is a Type B free agent because he signed a minor league deal.

Last season with the Arizona Diamondbacks, Duke went 3-4 with a 4.93 era while averaging 3.8 k/9, his worst since 2007 with the Pirates(3.4 k/9).

The Diamondbacks acquired Duke from the Pirates in November of 2010.

Last season with the Braves, Lugo hit .136 avg in 136 plate appearances.

In 2005, Lugo posted a career year with the Rays where he hit .295 in 616 plate appearances while posting a .362 OBP. That year he made $3.15mm.

Helms was released by the Florida Marlins on August 13.  Florida previously extended Helms’ contract for one-year at $1 million in August of 2010.  If Helms makes the Major League roster, then the Braves are only responsible for the prorated portion of the Major League minimum.

Bush opted out of his contract with the Cubs earlier this week. Bush was 0-1 with a 5.71 ERA in 17 appearances for the Rangers. The 31-year-old has a career 56-69 record with a 4.70 career ERA.

Proctor was released by the Atlanta Braves on August 10.  He was 2-3 with a 6.44 ERA in 29 1/3 innings throughout 31 games for the Braves this season.
