Rockies sign Jamie Moyer

By Ryan

The Colorado Rockies have signed the oldest man in the world Jamie Moyer to a minor league deal, Troy Renck of the Denver Post reports. The deal includes an invite to Spring Training.

Moyer missed the entire 2011 season due to Tommy John surgery.

The guy who is older than eight active managers in the Majors, went 9-9 with a 4.84 ERA in 111.2 innings with the Phillies in 2010.

Moyer who is 49, is not the oldest player to play the game. That honor belongs Satchel Paige who was 59. In 1965, he signed a one-day contract with the Kansas City Athletics. On September 25, he took the mound against the Boston Red Sox allowing only one hit in three innings (info obtained from wikipedia).
