Brewers appear to be out on Prince Fielder

With the Winter Meetings already underway, Tom Haudricourt of the Journal Sentinel asked Brewers GM, Doug Melvin, if he was going to meet with Prince Fielder’s agent, Scott Boras, and he said, “I don’t know. I don’t have plans on it.”
If that means the Brewers are moving on even though Fielder’s market is shrinking, as Haudricourt points out, they will probably give Mat Gamel a shot at first base. If Gamel fails, Haudricourt says that a “contingency plan” for the Brewers could be moving Casey McGehee from third to first base.
Fielder hit .299/.415/.566 with 38 HR’s and 120 RBI’s in 569 AB’s for the Brewers in 2011.

Angels making a ’serious push’ to sign LHP C.J. Wilson

According to sources close to Jon Paul Morosi of FOXSports, the Los Angeles Angels are making a strong push to land left hended pitcher C.J. Wilson.
Yesterday, we learned that there are at least five teams, including the Rangers, in for “the hunt” of Wilson, and that one of them made a six-year deal offers.
Late in November, Wilson had dinner with Angels manager, Mike Scioscia, and their new GM, Jerry DiPoto. DiPoto also met with Wilson’s agent, Bob Garber, during the GM’s meetings in Milwaukee.
It is known that the left hander and the Angels have mutual interest. Wilson ($7,000,000) was 16-7 with a 2.94 ERA in 223.1 innings throughout 34 starts for the Rangers in 2011. He got $437,500 for every won game, or $33,980.58 for every strike out. Wilson took the mound 34 times last season which means he earned $205,882 for every start.
