According to several news outlets, the Texas Rangers have acquired catcher Matt Treanor from the Kansas City Royals for a player to be named later or for cash, and they have acquired left-handed pitcher Mike Gonzalez from the Baltimore Orioles for a player to be named later.
Treanor, 35, is headed back to the Rangers – the team he spent 82 games in 2010 with. He was hitting .226/.351/.306 in 65 games with the Royals in 2011.
Gonzalez, 33, was 2-2 with a 4.27 ERA in 49 relief appearances for the Orioles this season.
The team also designated Tim Wood and activated Wilmer Font and placed him on the 60-day disabled list to make roster space for Treanor and Gonzalez. (Anthony Andro, The Fort Worth Star-Telegram)
