Here’s a running list of injury updates around the Major Leagues:
– An MRI exam on right handed pitcher Tommy Hanson revealed no structural damage according to David O’Brien of the Atlanta Journal Constitution. O’Brien adds that the Braves hope he can avoid going on the DL and start Tuesday against the Giants.
– The Los Angeles Dodgers have placed short stop Dee Gordon on the Disabled List with a bruised shoulder according to Steve Dilbeck of the Los Angeles Times. Manager Don Mattingly said Gordon is going to the DL only as a precaution.
– The Florida Marlins have placed Hanley Ramirez on the Disabled List retroactive to August three, with a sprained left shoulder reports Joe Capozzi of the Palm Beach Post.
– Right handed pitcher Alex Cobb will undergo season-ending surgery to remove a “blockage” for the area of his first rib on the right side according to Marc Topkin of the St. Petersburg Times.
