The Chicago Cubs will be without pitcher Carlos Zambrano for 30 days after the team placed him on the disqualified list, according to the team (via ESPNChicago.com’s Bruce Levine). Zambrano will receive no pay during this time.
The right-hander gave up five home runs in a 10-4 loss to the Atlanta Braves on Friday and also was ejected after throwing at Chipper Jones. Zambrano was cleaning out his locker and told trainers and clubhouse people that he was “retiring”.
