Sunday Rumor Mill: Yankees not trading for a big name player now

Here are your final trade deadline rumors to follow.  Follow PRO Rumors throughout the day as we give you the latest moves.

Jon Paul Morosi of FOXSports reports that the Yankees aren’t going for any big-name player at the moment. He adds that a small upgrade could be possible.

– Brandon League will be staying put with the Seattle Mariners, Jon Paul Morosi of FOX Sports says via Twitter.

Jon Paul Morosi of FOXSports writes that the Washington Nationals are not close to acquiring Twins’ Denard Span.

– According to Jon Paul Morosi of FOXSports, the Houston Astros are probably keeping left handed pitcher Wandy Rodriguez.

Tracy Ringolsby of FOX Sports reports that the Padres are working on deal that would send Aaron Harang to the Phillies.

–The Pirates appear to be making one last push to acquire Ryan Ludwick who appeared set on going to the Indians reports Tim Brown of Yahoo Sports.

– The Cleveland Indians and the Toronto Blue Jays have entered the Wandy Rodriguez’s sweepstakes according to Jon Heyman of Sports Illustrated.

Jayson Stark of ESPN hears that a deal involving Wandy Rodriguez to the New York Yankees is officially dead.  Joel Sherman of the New York Post adds that the Astros wanted to Yankees to absorb some of Rodriguez’s salary in addition to adding prospects and the Yankees refused.

– The Colorado Rockies have been receiving calls on Ian Stewart according to Jayson Stark of ESPN. He says that the Yankees and an “NL mistery team” have called.

Jon Heyman of Sports Illustrated is hearing that Chris Ianetta’s talks have cooled a bit.

– Sources close to Jon Paul Morosi of FOX Sports say that the Pirates are are interested in many bats and one of them is Omar Infante of the Florida Marlins.  Jon Heyman of Sports Illustrated agrees that if the Marlins do make a trade, Infante could be the one to go.

Andrew Baggarly notes that the Blue Jays are working hard to acquire Chris Iannetta from the Blue Jays.

– According to Jon Heyman of Sports Illustrated, the Mariners will keep Brandon League. He adds that Erik Bedard is still being discussed.

–The Reds have been receiving calls for Travis Wood reports Jon Morosi of FOXSports.

– A source close to Scott Miller of CBS Sports says that a deal between the Twins and Nationals “does not believe” a deal will happen. The hold up appears to be that the Nationals do not want to include Storen in trade talks.

– In a Tweet by Troy E. Renck of The Denver Post, he says the Rockies conversations with teams are heating up as they try to find a suitor for Ian Stewart.

– The Boston Red Sox are not in on Wandy Rodriguez according to Jon Paul Morosi of FOXSports.

Jon Heyman of Sports Illustrated reports that Bread Ziegler will likely to be headed to Arizona.

– According to Tim Brown of Yahoo, the Angels are being more aggressive on acquiring bullpen help. Todd Coffey is among those considered he adds.

Jon Paul Morosi of FOXSports reports that Jason Kubel talks between the Pirates and Twins are not serious.

– The Arizona Diamondbacks and the Oakland Athletics are discussing a possible Brad Ziegler trade. (Buster Olney, ESPN)

– The Houston Astros and the New York Yankees have discussed Wandy Rodriguez as recently as this morning, Jon Paul Morosi of FOX Sports reports.

– According to Andrew Barggarly of the San Jose Mercury News, Giants GM, Brian Sabean, is “still actively working the phones.” He adds that the Giants are looking for a leadoff hitter.

Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports reports that the New York Yankees are going after Wandy Rodriguez of the Houston Astros.

– The New York Yankees like Heath Bell, but have favored Mike Adams despite Adam’s higher price, Joel Sherman of the New York Post reports.

–The St. Louis Cardinals are in talks about a possible Erik Bedard trade with the Mariners, Ken Rosenthal of FOXSports reports. Rosenthal adds that the ball is in the Cardinals court if a deal is completed. Jon Heyman of SI.com adds that the Red Sox are still talking with the Mariners about Bedard along with one other unknown team.

–The Pirates are trying to acquire Ryan Ludwick, Tim Brown of Yahoo Sports reports.

–The Tigers are looking into Rays reliever Joel Peralta Jon Morosi of FOXSports reports.

Tim Kurkjian of ESPN is reporting that a possible Drew Storen for Denard Span deal actually happening is less than 50-50.

– According to Jon Heyman of Sports Illustrated, Aaron Harang and Mike Adams will probably stay with the Padres.

Buster Olney of ESPN keeps the rumors going as he notes the Diamondbacks are looking at Grant Balfour of the A’s for relief help.

–The Braves have inquired with the Marlins about their old friend Omar Infante, Buster Olney of ESPN reports. But it appears at this time that the Marlins are leaning towards keeping him.

Troy E. Renck of The Denver Post believes that one (if not two) players among Chris Iannetta, Ian Stewart and Rafael Betancourt will be dealt by the Rockies before the deadline.
