The Cincinnati Reds recently scouted hurlers Jason Vargas and Doug Fister from the Seattle Mariners, according to a source close to Jon Paul Morosi of FOXSports.

Earlier this week, we learned that the Reds would like to acquire a starting pitcher. They have their eyes on Ubaldo Jimenez and Wandy Rodriguez but both pitchers may be to expensive.

The Mariners, are willing to trade some of their pitchers, with Vargas and Fister’s names being placed on the market.

Vargas is 6-8 with a 3.94 ERA in 130.1 innings this season for the Mariners.

Fister is 3-11 with a 3.30 ERA in 139 innings for the Mariners.
