The Boston Red Sox have acquired infielder Mike Aviles from the Kansas City Royals in exchange for Yamaico Navarro and Kendal Volz according to the Royals official Twitter account.
Aviles is hitting .222/.261/.359 with 5 HR’s and 31 RBI’s in 185 AB’s for the Royals in 2011. Aviles was acquired to in part because of his versatility as he can play 2nd, 3rd and shortstop and is under team control through 2014.
