The Florida Marlins have acquired 38-year-old Mike Cameron from the Boston Red Sox in exchange for a player to be named later or cash considerations, Clark Spencer of The Miami Herald reports.
“We wanted to add a veteran presence to help with some of our younger guys the second half,” said president of baseball operations Larry Beinfest
“I think you’re looking for production, and we still think this guy can help us,” Beinfest added.
The Boston Red Sox designated Cameron for assignment on June 30. The outfielder was hitting just .149/.212/.266 with 3 HR’s and 9 RBI’s in 94 AB’s for the Red Sox in 2011.
