In a Tweet by the Jeff Zrebiec of the Baltimore Sun, he reports that the Orioles have designated Clay Rapada for assignment in order to make room for Alfredo Simon.  Zrebiec follows up on Sunday, July 3 and says that Rapada has cleared waivers and has accepted an assignment to Triple-A Norfolk.

In 28 games for the Orioles this season, Rapada hit .217/.341/.348 with two home runs and eight RBIs.

Alfredo may be best remembered for his off-season accusation of being a suspect in the murder of 25-year-old Michel Castillo in the Dominican Republic.  In five games this season, Simon is 1-1 with a 1.326 WHIP.
