Carlos Beltran would accept trade to Red Sox
By
When New York Mets outfielder Carlos Beltran was asked (as reported by Alex Speier of WEEI) if he would waive his no-trade clause to be shipped to the Boston Red Sox, this is what he had to say:
“They’re in first place,” he smiled. “That’s a no-brainer.”
Beltran would be owed about $6 million for the rest of the year and sources close to Speier say that the Red Sox will not have much money to spend this summer to bolster their lineup.
“I have already made it clear to the Mets — and they know — that I’d say yes [to a trade],” Beltran said. “At the same time, right now we’re playing good baseball and we’re contending. So we have to wait. We have to wait and see what happens.”
