The Atlanta Braves have signed their first Draft Pick (28th overall) in this year’s Amateur Draft, left handed pitcher Sean Gilmartin reports Jim Callis of Baseball America.
David O’Brien of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution adds that Gilmartin was signed for $1.15 million. Scouting reports says that he has a fringe-average fastball, mostly 88-89MPH but touching 91MPH at times. He has a big, slow curveball that might work against lefties and his best pitch is his changeup, 76-78MPH with good arm speed and some late fading action.
