Braves looking for bullpen help

By juan

The Atlanta Braves are looking for bullpen help, Buster Olney of ESPN reports. The bullpen need is understandable given the heavy use of their relievers in the first half of the year. Jonny Venters for example is on pace for 91 appearances with 96 innings pitched.

Jon Paul Morosi of FOXSports though adds that the Braves are still talking with the Reds about Jonny Gomes. Yesterday, we learned that the Braves are trying to trade for Gomes, but apparently that won’t stop them from looking for relievers.

Even though the Braves have limited payroll room, they’re expected to be buyers at the deadline. Though they need bullpen help, they will probably stay away from names like Heath Bell, Mike Adams and company.
