According to Bob Brookover of the Philadelphia Inquirer, Ronnie Belliard will retire after tonight’s game. Belliard is currently with Lehigh Valley, the Philadelphia Phillies’ Triple-A affiliate.
The 35-year-old Belliard agreed to a Minor League contract with the Yankees in early February, but was released by the team in late March. Had he made the team he would have made $825,000.
The 13-year veteran spent the 2010 season with the Los Angeles Dodgers where he hit .216/.295/.327 in 82 games. He will finish his career by hitting .273/.338/.415 with 114 home runs and 601 RBIs in 1484 games played.
