Indians trade INF Josh Rodriguez to Pirates for cash
By
According to MLB.com’s Jordan Bastian, the Cleveland Indians have traded Triple-A Columbus infielder Josh Rodriguez to the Pittsburgh Pirates for cash. Rodriguez was a Rule 5 pick by the Pirates in December and was returned to the Indians in late April. By rule of the draft, a player must remain on the team’s active roster for the entire season or be offered back to the original team.
In seven games for the Pirates this season, Rodriguez hit .083/.214/.083 with 1 RBI in 12 at-bats.
