Giants interested in Mark Ellis?

The San Francisco Giants are looking for a catcher since they lost Buster Posey to a season-ending surgery, but they also need help up the middle and could be interested in Mark Ellis according to Henry Schulman of the San Francisco Chronicle.
A source close to Schulman says the Giants have asked questions about the Athletics’ second baseman. Another source close to Schulman says that Brewers backup catcher, George Kottaras, could be a possibility for them.
He might not be a great defender but knows how to draw a walk and recently was recalled from the Minors because of how well he was hitting says Schulman.
Ellis is hitting .211/.245/.287 with 1 HR and 15 RBI’s in 209 AB’s this season for the Athletics. Kottaras is hitting .290/.324/.516 with 2 RBI’s in 31 AB’s in 2011 since he was recalled to the Majors.
