The Chicago Cubs have given pitcher Doug Davis his unconditional release, Carrie Muskat of MLB.com reports.
The 35-year-old pitched 4 1/3 innings while giving up 12 hits and 10 earned runs in his last outing versus the San Francisco Giants on Tuesday.
Davis was signed by the Cubs to a Minor League deal on April 12. He was on track to make $900,000 with up to $2 million in incentives while on the Major League roster. The left-hander was 1-7 with a 6.50 ERA in nine games with Chicago.
