Phillies unlikely to make significant moves in July
Posted by: | Comments
Philadelphia Phillies GM Ruben Amaro Jr. said yesterday that he believes his team will not make a significant move before the July 31 trade deadline, as reported by David Murphy of phillynews.com.
“I wouldn’t expect it,” Amaro said.
The GM thinks his team has enough balance of hitters on both sides of the plate, however, Murphy mentions that no team since the 2000 Yankees have won a League Championship Series without a right-handed hitter that hit more than 21 home runs.
One target that Amaro could go after should he change his mind is Oakland Athletic’s outfielder Josh Willingham, but his $2.5 million that he’s owed for the rest of the season would be difficult for Philadelphia to support.
