Jason Heyward hires Casey Close as his new agent

By juan

Braves right fielder Jason Heyward has decided to swtich agents according to Mark Bowman of MLB.com. Heyward ended his affiliation with Career Sports Entertainment after being with them since the Braves selected him in the 2007 First-Year Player Draft.

Sources close to Bowman said he will now be represented by Casey Close. Close representatives include Phillies first baseman Ryan Howard and Yankees shortstop Derek Jeter.

Bowman believes the team will try to lock the 21-year outfielder into a multi-year deal before he becomes arbitration-eligible after the 2012 season, but so far there has been no negotiations.

Heyward is hitting .233/.336/.466 with 7 HR’s and 14 RBI’s in 116 AB’s so far this season. Last year, he hit .277/.393/.456 with 18 HR’s and 72 RBI’s in 520 AB’s.
