The New York Yankees have released left-handed pitcher Jose Ortegano, Matt Eddy of Baseball America reports.

The Yankees designated Ortegano on April 23.   The team claimed the left-hander from the Atlanta Braves in late March and was immedatly optioned to Triple-A.

The 23-year-old Venezuelan native pitched five seasons in the Braves Minor League system.  In 2010, he was 5-15 in 28 appearances (27 starts) with a 5.998 ERA over 131 innings pitched.
