Nationals looking for help in center field

By Allan

The Washington Nationals are locked in with Jayson Werth in right field and Bryce Harper in left field, but they have a need for center field help, Ken Rosenthal of FOXSports reports. According to sources close to Rosenthal, Washingotn is looking for a potential upgrade to incumbent Rick Ankiel.

Rosenthal says that Ankiel is more of a platoon outfielder that works well against right-handers and the club is mixed on Roger Bernadina (currently in Triple-A). Another internal option is Jerry Hairston, but he’s off to a poor offensive start.

The perfect player the Nationals could acquire is B.J. Upton of the Tampa Bay Rays. Upton is a free agent after the 2012 season and is currently earning $4.825 million.
