Giants letting teams know that Schierholtz is available
By
The San Francisco Giants are letting teams know that outfielder Nate Schierholtz is available, Jerry Crasnick of ESPN reports. Schierholtz could be the “odd-man” out when Andres Torres returns from his Achilles injury.
Schierholtz was a trade candidate late in Spring Training when the team had an abundance of outfielders in addition to prized prospect Brandon Belt. A late injury to Cody Ross prevented the possibility of a trade.
Through 17 games this season, Schierholtz is hitting .226/.226/.387 with one home run and three RBIs.
