Gabe Gross retires

By juan

According to Jon Johnson of DothanEagle.com, Gabe Gross has decided to retire from baseball. “I just felt like my heart wasn’t into it,” he said. “This and quitting football are the two hardest decisions I’ve ever made.”

Gross agreed to a Minor League deal with the Marlins last week and was scheduled to take a physical on Monday, but he decided to retire on Sunday. “I didn’t think it was right for me or my family if I couldn’t do it 100%, because it takes 100%,” said Gross. “Sometimes you’ve just got to move on. For 10 years I’ve been able to provide for my family through baseball I’ve been extremely blessed.”

The 31-year old outfielder was released by the Mariners back in March. He signed a Minor League deal with the Mariners early in February. Gross hit .239/.290/.311 with 1 HR and 25 RBI’s in 222 AB’s with the Oakland Athletics last season.
