According to the New York Yankees PR Department, the team has claimed left-handed pitcher Jose Ortegano off waivers from the Atlanta Braves.  The Yankees then optioned Ortegano to Triple-A.

The 23-year-old Venezuelan native has pitched five seasons in the Braves Minor League system.  In 2010, he was 5-15 in 28 appearances (27 starts) with a 5.998 ERA over 131 innings pitched.
