The Washington Nationals have claimed left-handed pitcher Lee Hyde off waivers from the Atlanta Braves, according to the Nationals’ official Twitter feed.

The 26-year-old Hyde was a fourth-round pick by the Braves in the 2006 MLB June Amateur Draft.  In five Minor League seasons he has a 12-11 record with a 2.91 ERA in 109 appearances (8 starts).

The Nationals also placed right-handed pitcher Stephen Strasburg on the 60-day disabled list.  The pitcher is recovering from Tommy John surgery that he had performed on his throwing arm last year.
