KC Royals designate Lucas May for assignment

By Allan

According to a team announcement, the Kansas City  Royals have designated catcher Lucas May for assignment.

May, 26, was one of the two Minor League players that the Royals received in the July 2010 trade that involved outfielder Scott Podsednik. The other player the Royals received was Single-A right-handed pitcher Elisaul Pimental.

The right-handed hitting backstop made his Major League debut with the Royals as a September call-up.  He played in 12 games and hit .289 (7-for-37).  During his brief time with the Royals he made nine starts.

“I always dreamed of making it to big leagues as a shortstop,” May said in September according to The Kansas City Star. “But when I converted to catching, I took to it, and I’m glad it happened.
