How was your Opening Day 2011?
By
I hope you all enjoyed your first day of the baseball season. Here’s a quick story of how mine went.
Today, I got to the office earlier than usual (only 2 hours late actually), with a big smile on my face and ready for baseball. As soon as I got there, I found myself swamped with work, but I wasn’t ready to let anything get in my way because today was Opening Day! Despite the work, I was able to escape early and enjoy the slew of games that were televised today.
As soon as I got home I turned on my living room TV and sat down to watch the New York Yankees and the Detroit Tigers lead it off. I ordered some junk food, disconnected the phone and told everybody not to bother me for the next seven months.
As for the game, I saw C.C. Sabathia throw a lot of curveballs for first pitch strikes, and a solid outing by Justin Verlander. A heavier Joba Chamberlain working a little bit high in the zone for my taste and Phil Coke getting hammered by Curtis Granderson.
I know it’s the first day of the season, but for what I saw from the Yankees today they have a good chance to “win it all”. Sabathia looked good on the mound and so did Chameberlain, Rafael Soriano and Mariano Rivera. Alex Rodriguez, Mark Teixeira and Granderson were pretty solid at the plate and even though Robinson Cano had an off day today, we all know what he’s capable of.
That’s how I lived my first Opening Day as a part of the PRO Rumors family. Share your stories about how your Opening Day was today!
