Cashman denying Liriano rumors

By Allan

Over the weekend, rumors about a trade between the New York Yankees and the Minnesota Twins involving Francisco Liriano surfaced.  In a Tweet by Wallace Matthews of ESPNNewYork.com, Cashman said, “I’m not talking to anyone about anything right now. Nobody’s available. Nobody of value, anyway.”

New York is in desperate need to solidify the back end of their rotation.  The rumors of the Yankees’ interest in the left-hander started to surface in December, but no formal offers were made.

The 27-year-old can become a free agent after the 2012 season and with a solid 2010 season Liriano has revamped his trade value from when he made only 14 starts due to injuries in 2008 and pitched to a 5.80 era in 2009.
