According to Jon Heyman of Sports Illustrated outfielder Rick Ankiel has agreed to a one-year, $1.5 million deal with the Washington Nationals. Heyman adds that the deal will include $1.25 million in performance bonuses.
Bill Ladson of MLB.com adds that Ankiel will compete again Roger Bernadina for the starting left field job.
Ankiel, 31, split time between the Atlanta Braves and Kansas City Royals in 2010. He hit .232/.321/.389 with 6 home runs and 24 RBIs in 74 games in 2010.
