Omar Minaya offered job with Diamondbacks

According to sources close to the New York Daily News’ Andy Martino, former New York Mets’ GM Omar Minaya has been offered a position as special assistant to the Arizona Diamondbacks’s GM Kevin Towers. The source adds nothing is imminent, but Minaya was expected to meet with current Met’s GM Sandy Alderson to see how he could fit in the new Mets’ front office.

Minaya is under contract with New York through 2012, but he has not decided what to d. He’s good friends for owner Fred Wilpon, and he says that he would like to stay in New York. It’s believed that he was being paid a little more than $1 million per season as the team’s GM.

The Diamondbacks’ interest in Minaya was first reported by the Wall St. Journal.
