Ozzie Guillen wants Omar Vizquel back for 2011

By Allan

Chicago White Sox manager Ozzie Guillen made it known that he wants to have his 43-year-old infielder Omar Vizquel back for the 2011 season, according to MLB.com’s Scott Merkin.

“Well, if Omar plays every day like he played this year, he might not play one month,” Guillen said. “But if Omar played the way he should be playing, I don’t see why he can’t play another two years. I don’t see why not.”

“He played the game well. He knows what he’s doing. He helped off the field. He helped on the field — that’s more important.”

Guillen said he wants to have Vizquel back in a utility infielder role.

Last month, Vizquel said he is not ready to hang up the cleats.

“I think it would be sad that if at the end of the season I look back, look at my year, and say, ‘Man, I don’t think I can do this anymore.’ Taking a look at the numbers and the things that I have done this year, it will give me a good possibility to come back next year and try and see if a team is interested in wanting me again.”
