Mets offer Hisanori Takahashi one-year deal
By
The New York Mets have offered left-handed pitcher Hisanro Takahashi a one-year deal, according to The New York Times’ David Waldstein. Waldstein adds that the deal was likely offered before the Mets hired Sandy Alderson as the team’s general manager.
“We’re going to look at it hard,” Alderson said Friday. “So, we have to make a judgment about what we think he’s worth. The problem is, that if we don’t do something relatively soon, then we’re out of the mix permanently. But he knows that too, so we’ll see.”
The left-handed previously had an October 31st deadline with the Mets to get a deal complete, but that date was moved to November 5. Waldstein says that Takahashi is looking for a two- or three-year deal with New York.
