Bobby Valentine withdraws name from Marlins managerial job
By
According to ESPN’s Tim Krkjian, analyst Bobby Valentine confirmed that he has taken himself out of consideration for the Florida Marlins managing job for 2011. Valentine and the Marlins had original discussions during the summer, but the team eventually went with interim manager Edwin Rodriguez for the rest of the season.
Talks resumed between Valentine and the team over the past few weeks until he withdrew his name today. Valentine said he decided to go in another direction.
The former New York Mets and Texas Rangers manager is believed to be the “front-runner” for the Seattle Mariners’ job, and he also interviewed for the Toronto Blue Jays’ job.
