Source confirms that that Mets GM Omar Minaya is likely out after season
By
According to a source close to AOL FanHouse’s Ed Price, New York Mets general manager Omar Minaya is out, and there’s little doubt that the team will not bring back Jerry Manuel as manager.
When and if that happens, the ownership seems to be leaning toward hiring an experience general manager, so it’s unlikely the team will promote assistant GM John Ricco. Additionally, Price says the team will unlikely hire Wally Backman as manager of the team.
There’s been some uncertainty among baseball writers about Ricco. Last weekend, Ken Rosenthal of FOXSports said that Ricco is not quite ready to handle the GM role. However, the New York Daily News’ Andy Martino says Ricco is not out of contention for the job.
