By Allan

According to Andrew Baggarly of the San Jose Mercury News, the San Francisco Giants have acquired infielder Mike Fontenot from the Chicago Cubs. Baggarly adds that Fontenot was acquired for Single-A infielder Evan Crawford.

Mychael Urban of Comcast Sportsnet Bay Area was the first to report that the San Francisco Giants were working on a deal for an infielder right. At the time, Urban added, “I’d be surprised if it’s not Ty Wiggington.

Fontenot, 30, is hitting .280/.328/.393 in 74 games for the Cubs this year. Coincidentally, Fontenot and the Cubs are in San Francisco for a four game series.
