8/9 15:53: According to the San Francisco Giants’ official Twitter account, the team has designated Todd Wellemeyer for assignment in order to make room for infielder Emmanuel Burriss.

Wellemeyer, 31, was 3-5 with a 5.68 ERA in 13 games (11 starts) for the Giants this season.
