Rickie Weeks Contract Rumors: Will second baseman get a contract extension?
By
Milwaukee Brewers’ second baseman Rickie Weeks could be next to get a contract extension from the team. His teammate, Corey Hart, received a three-year contract extension that takes him into 2013.
According to Tom Haudricourt of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, general manager Doug Melvin has floated the idea with Weeks about a new deal. The talks were tabled because Weeks’ agent, Lon Babby, is in the process of getting out of the business and taking over as president of the Phoenix Suns. Haudricourt says the talks will resume as soon as Weeks’ representation is settled.
Weeks, 27, will be a free agent after the 2011 season.
