PRO Rumors: Aroldis Chapman, Brett Myers, Mike Lowell
ByHere are a few evening PRO Rumors that will ease you into Thursday:
Buster Olney of ESPN spoke with Cincinnati Reds GM Walt Jocketty and he said he hasn’t discussed with manager Dusy Baker about a possible promotion for Aroldis Chapman in awhile. The two may speak later this week.
Peter Gammons of MLB.com says (via Mark J. Miller of Yahoo Sports), the New York Mets tried to acquire Houston Astros right-handed pitcher Brett Myers. The Astros asked for rookie shortstop/second baseman Ruben Tejada and reliever Bobby Parnell. Gammons says the Mets did not want to take on money or give up those players.
The Yankees had a three-team deal with the Boston Red Sox and Texas Rangers that included Mike Lowell, according to Buster Olney of ESPN. The Yankees walked away from the deal after they reviewed Lowell’s medical file.
