According to Jon Paul Morosi of FOXSports, the Philadelphia Phillies will acquire Mike Sweeney from the Seattle Mariners. He will likely play first base while Ryan Howard recovers from a sprained left ankle.
The 36-year-old Sweeney was a border-line roster decision coming out of Spring Training this season.
Sweeney, is hitting .263/.327/.475 in 30 games for the Mariners this season. He has not played since June 25 when he went 2-for-4 with an RBI.
