New York Yankees ‘need’ to find more hitting

By Allan

Kevin Kernan of the New York Times says the Yankees don’t have the hitters to combat the arms of a team such as the Boston Red Sox, and there is a feeling inside the Yankees clubhouse that a right-handed bat like Jose Guillen must be added.

“There is a need,” one Yankee told Kernan.

There was a rumor last week that the Yankees weren’t shutting on the door on acquiring the DH/OF who was recently designated for assignment by the Kansas City Royals.

It was evident in the Yankees’ loss to the Red Sox on Monday when they went 0-for-9 with runners in scoring position, and 2-for-17 with runners on base.

Kernan says the bat could come from inside the club. Either Alex Rodriguez has to find his power stroke or Lance Berkman has to adapt to the AL East.
