Florida Marlins consider re-sigining Cody Ross
By
According to two Major League sources close to Joe Capozzi of the Palm Beach Post, the Florida Marlins are considering re-signing center fielder Cody Ross. Ross will be in this final year of salary arbitration after this season, and the offer according to Coppozi will only be for one year.
Ross’ successor is likely Cameron Maybin, but Capozzi says Maybin has yet to prove to the front office that he can take over the center field position.
Ross went into salary arbitration before this season, and won. He’s being paid $4.45 million whereas the Marlins offered $4.2 million. The 29-year-old is hitting .271/.323/.410 with 10 home runs for the Marlins this year. He was involved in many trade rumors over the past few weeks, and there’s a possibility that Ross could still be traded this month.
