Filming is underway for the Moneyball movie in Oakland

Here’s a little Tuesday morning fun for you all.
The filming for the best-selling book “Moneyball” by Michael Lewis is underway at the Oakland Coliseum, and the film makers are trying to get as authentic as possible.
The production crew has radio play-by-play man Ken Korach and television announcer Glen Kuiper filming scenes in the press box with director Bennett Miller and Greg Papa, according to Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle.
“The sounds of their voices are so great,” location manager Todd Christensen said as the scene was being filmed. “Listen to that; that’s why they didn’t use actors for this.”
Slusser says many fans would like to use the late Bill King’s radio call of Scott Hatteberg’s dramatic home run in the record 20th consecutive win. It’s not clear if it will be used in the movie.
Brad Pitt will star as A’s general manager Billy Beane with Jonah HIll playing assistant GM Paul DePodesta.
The stadium has been altered to look like the 2002 baseball season which means the tarps on the third deck will be removed and the Dallas Braden perfect game logo will come off the outfield wall.
There are a few differences that you will notice when you watch the film. Former big league shortstop, Royce Clayton, will play Miguel Tejada and former big league catcher Chad Kreuter will play pitching coach Rick Peterson.
The crew is in Oakland for a 10-day shoot, doing much of the filming at all hours of the night. Moneyball will hit the big screen in 2011.
