Chicago Cubs may not be done cleaning house – more trades coming?

By Allan

Yesterday’s trade of infielder Mike Fontenot to the San Francisco Giants may not be the last of the Cubs’ in-season deals.

”It’s hard to say if it’ll be the last one,” assistant general manager Randy Bush said . ”Anything that we can do that we feel is to the betterment of the organization we’re going to continue to look at.”

The Chicago Sun-Times suggests that Xavier Nady should probably “keep his bags packed.” The Texas Rangers had interest in Nady in July. In early June, Nady was rumored to be a target of the Los Angeles Angels. Nady is signed to a one-year, $3.3 million contract with the Cubs.

Right-handed pitcher Carlos Zambrano may want to look over his shoulder too since the Cubs already tried to trade him in July. However, it will be unlikely that the Cubs will move Zambrano without absorbing much of his contract.
