Ben Sheets Retirement Rumors: RHP remains uncertain if he’ll pitch again

By Allan

Right-handed pitcher Ben Sheets will undergo flexor-tendon surgery next week in Dallas with Dr. Ketih Meister, according to Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle. The tendon will be anchored to the bone differently than it was the first time, when it was sutured.

As far as his pitching career goes, “My arm will tell me,” he said.

Slusser reported in late July that Sheets will miss the rest of the season due to the torn flexor tendon.

Slusser adds that Sheets may want to consider making an effort to come back for at least one more season. Sheets’ full Major League pension will vest once he accumulates ten years of service. He currently has nine years of service time.
