Chipper Jones is not retiring yet. In a live press conference on MLB.com and confirmed by Mark Bowman of MLB.com, Jones said that he will rehab his knee and attempt to play next year.
“I’m going to go through this rehab process just like I was going to get ready for spring training,” Jones said. “I fully expect to come into camp next spring, ready to go.”
In the conference, Jones said that he watched the play about 10 times, and he could not identify the point at which he injured his knee.
Yesterday, Jones’ father, Larry Jones said in article written by Gene Frenette of The Florida Times-Union, “He’s not going out like this. I think he’ll be back. Once the shock [of the injury] wears off, you’ll see him get back and get going again.”
Jone suffered a season ending ACL to his knee on Tuesday evening in Houston.
